Thunderful, Coatsink and Noname Studios released a new developer commentary video for their upcoming atmospheric 2D adventure, Worldless (@worldless_game), that will launch on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC on November 21.

Worldless is a stylized 2D Adventure Platformer with turn-based combat and a mind-bending, interpretative narrative. Players will walk the line between physical and astral planes within a shapeless world, embarking on a journey of self-growth and understanding.

The new video offers a deeper look at how Wordless delivers a mix of metroidvania exploration, turn-based action combat and RPG-style upgrades. Let's take a look!

Creative and animation Director, Joel Roset demonstrates how you are rewarded for exploring every corner of a level with new abilities to unleash in combat and how the map has been efficiently designed to show players what they have already cleared and what is yet to be discovered. Joel also explains how Worldless’ innovative mix of turn-based and real-time combat systems work, showcasing, for example, how a perfect parry system rewards skillful timing in defensive phases.

Worldless is set at a time where the rules of existence remain. In this abstract setting, players will discover entities with opposing goals. One half is fixated on the virtue of their nature, the other is seeking to exchange it for their demise. This inevitably thrusts them into conflict as they battle for transcendence and you will find yourself embroiled in that fight, left to interpret the game’s mysterious narrative and its themes of growth and understanding for yourself.
